Our Curriculum
We will provide each student with a tailored learning programme based on their baseline assessment, previous academic performance, and long-term learning goals. Our curriculum follows a multi-disciplinary model in school, encouraging students to make choices about their programmes with input from their families and external professionals.
Students will receive support in developing essential independent life skills, including financial planning and budgeting, meal planning and preparation, and independent travel.
Our curriculum has three key elements:
Core: Our adapted National Curriculum offers a personalised, aspirational learning pathway that is meaningful, relevant, and achievable. It challenges students while incorporating their special interests to enhance motivation and enjoyment. The curriculum is varied and balanced, with a strong focus on Personal Development and regular opportunities for learning outside of school.
Support: All students benefit from integrated therapeutic support for their sensory and emotional needs. Small class sizes, spacious classrooms, and subject-specific areas create a positive learning environment. Staff are trained to support neurodivergent students and those with communication or social interaction challenges. Some students may have additional time participating in art, music, or PE to aid their overall engagement and emotional regulation.
Extension: Students will engage in various activities designed to stretch and challenge them, including small-group or one-on-one study, field trips, and vocational experiences.
