Tom's story

Life before Aurora: Before attending Aurora White House School, Tom made very little progress at his previous school. He found it challenging to stay in the classroom with other pupils, struggled to make friends with peers, and only socialised with younger children.

Transition: When Tom first arrived at Aurora White House School, he found it difficult to engage. He was often angry, frequently attempted to run away from the classroom, and showed risky behaviour. However, with daily intervention and support, Tom made a huge amount of progress both academically and emotionally. He grew into a confident and happy member of the class, developing a wonderful sense of humour.

Achievements: Tom now writes neatly and accurately, regularly completing his work independently. Reflecting on his progress, he says, “I think the teachers really helped last year because I didn’t want to run away.”

Next steps: Tom transitioned to Aurora Eccles School, where he is now thriving in Year 8.

" My son has changed
so much. His confidence has bloomed and he’s become really caring. His literacy has progressed and he’s now reading and writing and using bigger words."
