Aurora pupils make a big splash

Over two days, and in class groups, the pupils swam a variety or lengths and widths and raised just over £1,900.

Twelve-year-old Miri-Anna Blades said: "I felt proud because I love people and I was able to help them with the money I raised."

“We are super proud of the swimming that was achieved and the support the students gave to each other during the event.,” said Arabella Hardy, Principal of Aurora Eccles and Aurora White House School.

“It was evident that they grabbed the opportunity with both hands and rose to meet the challenge of swimming length after length and, most amazingly of all, raising so much money for such an important charity.”

Helen Chapman from Marie Curie came to the school to collect the funds and thank the students and for all their hard work. 

Helen said: “On behalf of Marie Curie we’d like to say a huge thank you to the fantastic pupils of Aurora Eccles and Aurora White House Schools for raising so much money through the Swimathon event. It was an absolute pleasure to meet some of the children who took part and we are incredibly grateful to everyone involved and all of the families and friends who sponsored everyone. A great event for the schools to be involved with and we can’t thank them enough for the huge effort they made to help others living with a terminal illness.”
