Admissions
How can I get my child a placement at an Aurora service?
Choosing a school or college for your child is one of the most important decisions you will ever make for them.
That’s why we involve your whole family in every step of the process of obtaining a placement at one of our schools or colleges. We work in partnership with you and your local authority to give your child the best possible chance of being offered provision from the service that will best meet their needs.
The first step is to complete our referral form or send an email directly to our referrals team at referrals@the-aurora-group.com attaching the latest version of your child’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
All information you send us will be treated as confidential and saved/shared in line with GDPR guidance.
Once we have received your initial enquiry, we will get back to you within one working day. We operate an open-door policy and encourage you to speak to us about any concerns or queries you may have.
Visiting the service
After we receive your initial enquiry, the next step is for you and your child to visit us for an on-site assessment, so that we can better fully understand their needs, abilities and interests.
We might also arrange an outreach visit to their current school and/or care provider, as well as any other external professionals they are working with.
What next?
We will need to complete an official consultation from the local authority or Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to make an informed decision about whether an Aurora service could be right for your child.
If, together, we agree that one of our services is a good fit for your child, we will submit an application to the local authority or CCG for funding.
Once a placement is agreed, we can begin building a personalised programme to ensure a smooth transition for your child into their new Aurora community.
