New Gloucestershire Special School Celebrates Good Ofsted Report
New Gloucestershire special school Aurora Severnside has been awarded a rating of “Good” by Ofsted just over a year after opening.
Aurora Severnside, near Berkley, opened in September 2021 and is an independent day school for pupils aged 11-16 with social, emotional and mental health needs.
Ofsted reported that “Pupils enjoy strong relationships with staff. They feel cared for and treated well. Pupils feel safe in the school and know that staff work hard to meet their needs.”
“Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities are supported well. Pupils receive good support for their personal development and wellbeing. Much of this support is delivered by the school’s well qualified therapy team. Both pupils and parents really value their work.”
Following the publication of the report, Head Teacher, Rachel Lynch, commented:
Our vision is to create an inclusive, welcoming learning environment in which all our students can develop and thrive. This report is a success for the school and a testament to all the hard work and dedication shown by the team at Severnside.
We’re extremely fortunate to have the specialist teaching staff, resources and facilities to offer a truly exceptional experience for our students.
To get a rating of Good within just 14 months of opening is a great achievement. Our dedicated staff have worked really hard to build up the school from scratch and we’re thrilled to have been given this recognition.
Aurora Severnside combines the best elements of a mainstream school with the additional support and resources of a special school, to create an environment where every young person can achieve their own goals and thrive in a future of their own choosing.
