Aurora Wilden View School opens its doors with a vibrant community festival!
The official ‘grand opening’ of Aurora Wilden View was celebrated with a festival. Students, staff and families all had the opportunity to take part in lots of activities as they celebrated the positive impact the school has already had on our young people.
Aleck Paggett, the oldest pupil, and Kyle Baker cut the red ribbon to officially open the school.
Demonstrating fundraising skills
Students showed how to fundraise ‘growing their £10’ through an enterprise project. Each group of students had £10 and the task of transforming this into more money for their chosen charities. They embraced the task fully with incredible stalls including face painting, glitter tattoos, soak the Head Teacher (Rob was put in stocks) and many more amazing efforts. The students demonstrated how to upsell; how to negotiate on prices and how to make as much money as possible for good causes. It was fantastic to see their skills.
Plenty of entertainment
The students joined in with their families and enjoyed bouncy castles; ice cream; music and dancing and a visit from the fire service. There was even a special surprise performance by the staff for the children and families.
Celebration
The staff were all incredibly proud of each of our young people and had a wonderful day. All our students were presented with certificates that embraced the values and were awarded with values wrist bands for their contributions so far to our school. The families were so complimentary about the event with one mum saying she couldn’t believe her child had taken part and not only that, but it was the best school event they’d ever been to!
